Would you like to create the perfect garden at home and enjoy the benefits of your efforts? Would you like to enjoy the results of eating better? Would you like to have better health through exercising by working in  your garden? Would you like to have a way to relax and unwind from a hard day’ of work?

If you would like to reap these benefits, then gardening is the way to go. It costs little and can save you money on food. Gardening will provide you with pesticide-free, healthy food. And what better way to relax than to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air outdoors.

The first thing you need to do is think about what you would like to grow. This would include any herbs, vegetables, and flowering plants you enjoy eating or seeing in your garden. Vegetables can be successfully grown in all areas of the United States. Tomatoes, beans, carrots, asparagus and corn are are some of the favorites. Do a Google Search for plants that grow well in your area.

Next, you will want to draw a layout of your garden. A good method for your garden layout is the Zone Method. With the Zone Method you group different plants together so that they benefit each other by providing shade and allowing for water retention. The premise of the Zone Method is to divide your garden into “zones”. You could have one zone for herbs, another for vegetables, another for leafy vegetables, another for flowers. You are only limited by your imagination when planning out your garden.

Certain plants do better when planted near other plants. This is called companion planting. When you visit your nursery of garden shop consult the staff about your gardening layout plan. They should be able to give you plenty of helpful advice.

A successful garden begins with thought and planning. With the right planning and effort, your garden should provide you with much enjoyment and a bountiful harvest.
